Begüm Yılmaz is an Istanbul-born biologist, writer, and visual storyteller with a passion for wildlife, conservation, and cultural heritage. Raised in Beşiktaş with a degree in Biology from Istanbul University and graduate studies in Microbiology, she brings a meticulous, research-driven approach to her work. From participating in Caretta sea turtle rescue projects to exploring ancient civilizations across the Aegean and Mediterranean, Begüm is fascinated by the profound connections between living ecosystems and historical landscapes. Through her videography, photography, and writing for The Other Tour, she combines a local’s curiosity with a mindful, scientific eye to uncover the layers and stories shaping modern Türkiye.
