Even on weekday evenings, Metet often has a line stretching down the block. Why? Because this place serves one of the best döner kebabs in all of Turkey. Thinly sliced, expertly seasoned, and slow-roasted over charcoal, their döner is a masterclass in balance: crispy on the edges, juicy in the center, full of smoky aroma, and never greasy.

About Kuzguncuk
Kuzguncuk is one of the most peaceful, picturesque neighborhoods in Istanbul. Located along the Bosphorus on the Asian side, it’s a small village within the city, famous for its colorful houses, friendly shopkeepers, synagogues and churches side by side, and a charming sense of community.
We often include Kuzguncuk in The Other Tour, not just because of its visual charm, but because it’s a living example of Istanbul’s layered identity – inclusive, soulful, and unpretentious. And stopping at Metet is a ritual. After a slow walk through Kuzguncuk’s streets, there’s nothing more satisfying than sitting down to a fresh plate of döner, hot off the grill.

🔷 Hours: Open daily, roughly 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM (or until sold out)
🔷 No reservations: First come, first served. Arrive early, especially on weekends
🔷 Neighborhood: Easily reached by ferry to Üsküdar + 10 min taxi or a lovely 25-minute walk
🔷 Tip: They often run out of döner by late evening. Lunchtime or early dinner is ideal.
