Black Sea 101
Let’s uncover the essentials of this remarkable region. The Black Sea is a land of hidden history, stunning landscapes, and deep-rooted traditions—here’s what to know before your journey begins.
What is the highlight of staying in a village in Giresun?
This is not just any village stay—it’s my home. Derekuşçulu Village in Giresun is where my family is from, and during this tour, you’ll have the unique opportunity to stay in my family’s village house, experiencing authentic Black Sea hospitality firsthand.
As the Co-Founder of The Other Tour, I have always believed in offering experiences that go beyond sightseeing. This is a chance to sit around a barbecue under the stars, share stories with local villagers, and experience daily life in a traditional Black Sea home—something no standard tour can provide. It’s a brief stay, but one that leaves a lasting impression
Will I get to experience the local food of the Black Sea?
Absolutely! While meals are not included, this allows you to freely explore authentic regional flavors at local restaurants. From fresh seafood in Sinop to hamsili pilav (anchovy rice) in Rize, and even a home-cooked village barbecue, you’ll experience the best of Black Sea cuisine.
Why is a private tour the best way to explore the Black Sea region?
The Black Sea is vast and diverse, with hidden gems that large group tours simply don’t reach. A private luxury vehicle gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace, skip crowded spots, and discover off-the-radar locations like Mavigöl (Blue Lake) and Boztepe. Plus, having a personal guide means deeper insights and flexibility throughout the journey.
