Introduction to Ugur Kayhan
Born and raised in Istanbul — with roots in the heartland city of Sivas — Uğur Kayhan has been guiding curious travelers through Istanbul’s streets and stories for the past three years. He studied Tourism Guidance at Mersin University, spent a semester in Latvia through the Erasmus exchange program, and has been hooked on cultural exchange ever since.
From the Grand Bazaar to the Grand Story
Uğur’s journey in tourism started early. At just 16, he worked as a sales assistant at Melih Kundura in the Grand Bazaar, one of the world’s oldest and liveliest markets. Later, he guided guests for Jolly Tur and Tatilbudur.com, learning the rhythms of hospitality, the needs of international travelers, and the power of storytelling.
Today, he is a licensed professional tour guide, blending deep historical knowledge with a friendly, approachable style that makes every guest feel like a local friend.
A Global Perspective
Thanks to his Hotel Management studies in Latvia and passion for languages (he speaks English fluently and Russian at an intermediate level), Uğur has an open, international outlook. He knows how to connect with travelers from all over the world — whether it’s explaining the secrets of Hagia Sophia, bargaining tips at the Spice Bazaar, or sharing a plate of meze in a tucked-away neighborhood meyhane.
The Person Behind the Guide
When Uğur isn’t guiding, you might find him swimming in the Marmara Sea, dancing at a local festival, or diving into a history book. He’s passionate about cooking, exploring new neighborhoods, and discovering hidden corners of Istanbul — the very spirit of The Other Tour.
Why Travel with Uğur?
Because Uğur doesn’t just know Istanbul — he lives it.
His tours are not about rushing from monument to monument, but about slowing down, asking questions, and creating memories.
So if you want to experience Istanbul not just as a tourist, but as a welcomed guest, come meet Uğur. He’ll make sure you leave the city with stories worth telling. And if you need wheelchair-assistance, he will push your chair as well! He is so selfless and modest.
