Sometimes, the best way to reset is to go where the air is crisper and the forests are denser. We crafted this six-day nature escape to guide you through the dramatic, emerald-green landscapes surrounding Trabzon. It is a journey built around pure scenic beauty, slow highland mornings, and deep serenity.

Table of Contents

Scenic Expedition of Northern Anatolia

Far from crowded resorts, Trabzon’s hinterland offers a sanctuary of raw, untouched wilderness. Here, towering peaks pierce through thick carpets of morning mist, guarding deep valleys carved by rushing alpine rivers.

This journey is crafted for travelers who seek authentic connections with the earth, where every winding mountain road reveals a breathtaking new horizon. We move beyond the standard tourist trail to bring you intimately close to the region’s soul.

Picture yourself sipping freshly brewed tea on a remote highland plateau, listening to the profound silence of ancient pine forests. By blending thrilling natural discoveries with moments of pure serenity, we ensure your time among these emerald slopes leaves you completely revitalized.

Detailed Itinerary

Here is a comprehensive day-by-day breakdown of your upcoming adventure in these lush, scenic landscapes. Every detail has been meticulously planned to ensure a seamless, memorable, and stress-free experience.

Day 1: Arrival & Trabzon City Orientation

Trabzon City
Boztepe Hill View

Your adventure begins as you land at Trabzon Airport, where our friendly local guide will warmly welcome you. We will arrange a comfortable private transfer directly to your hotel so you can drop off your luggage.

Once settled, we will take a relaxing stroll through the historic Trabzon city square to help you acclimatize to the vibrant Black Sea atmosphere. As the afternoon settles, we will head up to Boztepe Hill, a beloved local viewpoint offering stunning panoramic vistas over the city and the vast sea.

You can enjoy a traditional glass of black tea from a samovar as you watch the sunset. Afterward, we will introduce you to authentic regional cuisine at a seaside restaurant before you rest up for the days ahead.

Day 2: The Cliffside Splendor of Sumela Monastery

Sumela Monastery
Hamsikoy Village

We set off early into the verdant Altındere National Park, tracing the path of a rushing mountain river. Our main destination is the breathtaking Sumela Monastery, an ancient marvel clinging to a sheer cliff face high above the evergreen forests.

You will explore its fresco-adorned rock churches and marvel at the incredible engineering that preserved this site. Leaving the valley, we ascend into the spectacular Zigana Mountains, trading dense forests for dramatic alpine passes.

Along the way, we will stop at the famous highland village of Hamsiköy, renowned for its spectacular mountain vistas and world-famous rice pudding. We will take a peaceful hike along the pine-scented trails before gently making our way back.

Day 3: Uzungöl Lake and the Highland Plateaus

Uzungol Lake
Solakli Valley

Today is entirely dedicated to Uzungöl, a stunning crater-like lake framed by towering, densely forested mountains. Our leisurely drive through the Solaklı Valley features stops at cascading waterfalls and historic wooden bridges.

Upon arrival, you will have ample time to walk the peaceful perimeter of the lake, capturing the iconic reflection of the mosque. To truly appreciate the scale of this landscape, our specialized vehicles will take you up the winding dirt roads to the Garester Plateau observation deck.

The bird’s-eye view of Uzungöl from this high altitude is absolutely awe-inspiring. We will spend the rest of the day relaxing in the highland meadows, breathing in the pure air before descending to the city.

Day 4: Misty Heights of Pokut and Fırtına Valley

Firtina Valley
Pokut Plateau

Our journey continues east toward Rize, entering the magnificent Fırtına Valley. This deep gorge is famous for its rushing river and historic Ottoman stone arches, like the Şenyuva Bridge.

For those craving an adrenaline rush, this is where you can dive into our optional extras, adding a thrilling river rafting experience or soaring across the canopy on a zipline. Leaving the valley floor, we climb rugged dirt paths to the breathtaking Pokut Plateau.

Nestled above the clouds at over 2,000 meters, this picturesque highland features centuries-old wooden chalets and endless views of the majestic Kaçkar mountain peaks. You can walk along the scenic ridges, interact with friendly locals, and embrace the absolute alpine silence.

Day 5: Ayder Plateau and the Hidden Waterfalls

Ayder Plateau
Palovit Waterfall

Waking up to the sounds of nature, we journey deeper into the Kaçkar Mountains to explore the renowned Ayder Plateau. We will spend the morning walking among its rolling green hills and traditional wooden houses, taking time to admire the Bridal Tül Waterfall.

If you wish to relax, you can extend by visiting the natural Ayder Thermal Baths here. Venturing further off the beaten path, we will discover the medieval Zilkale, a hidden stone fortress sitting dramatically on a cliff edge overlooking a deep gorge.

Afterward, a short forest trek will lead us to the powerful Palovit Waterfall, where you can feel the mist of the crashing water and breathe in the rich, earthy scent of the old-growth pine forest.

Day 6: Tea Gardens and Departure

Airport Transfer
Trabzon Airport

On your final morning, we will visit a sprawling tea plantation in the rolling green hills just outside Trabzon. You will learn firsthand how the famous regional tea is cultivated, harvested, and brewed to perfection.

Walking through the vibrant, terraced green fields offers a deeply calming experience and the perfect opportunity to capture your final photos. We will spend our remaining time at a local cafe overlooking the tea gardens, reflecting on the wonderful memories and raw natural beauty experienced over the past few days.

Afterward, our team will assist you with checking out and provide a private, comfortable transfer back to Trabzon Airport. We will ensure you arrive with plenty of time for your flight home.
